Gov. Jennifer Granholm speaks to a crowd of family, friends and employees at Full Spectrum Solutions Wednesday. Gov. Jennifer Granholm was in Jackson this morning for a tour of Full Spectrum Solutions and applauded the workers at the energy efficient lighting company and its owners for completion of their new facility and commitment to the state.

"The possibilities here are just really, really enormous," she said.

The Jackson-based company, which manufactures and sells induction lighting opened its new 72,000-square-foot facility on Wellworth Avenue earlier this year.

Granholm said she was impressed with the company's use of almost all Michigan-based suppliers to not only make their lights, but to outfit the new facility.

It's Jackson's most "green" facility, and uses wind and solar energy to power the parking lot lights, it has solar-powered tracking skylights, recycled carpet, cork walls, and, of course, the company's own induction lighting.

In the rooms where employees work, ceilings project a blue sky, complete with wispy white clouds, to give the impression they are looking outside. Granholm said she wanted to lay down so she could look up and imagine being on a beach somewhere.

The work stations move up and down electronically so employees can sit at their desk or stand up and work on the computer and each week they are given a free massage in a quiet room.

"Oh my gosh, how great is that?" Granholm said.

After the tour, Granholm gathered with the 40 or so employees and praised them for their contributions at diversifying the state's economy and employing former automotive suppliers to make products and parts for them.

"What a great story," she said. "It's an example for the state and the whole country."
