Alabama Power Technology Applications Center Partners with
EverLast® Induction Lighting on an Energy-Efficiency Demonstration

Jackson, MI– January 24, 2011 – Alabama Power's Technical Applications Center (TAC) recently expanded their lighting demonstration to show their industrial power customers the benefits of installing energy-efficient lighting. When it came time to showcase an induction lighting manufacturer, they selected EverLast® Induction Lighting after receiving a recommendation from Georgia Power, both of which are subsidiaries of Southern Company.

Alabama Power provides competitive prices, reliable electricity supply and unparalleled service to 1.4 million homes, businesses and industries in the southern two-thirds of Alabama. TAC is a facility that helps Alabama Power commercial customers discover ways for their companies to improve energy efficiency, increase productivity, address environmental concerns, and improve production processes. "Our goal is to assist industry to maintain their competitive edge in this global market," stated David Boone, Manager of TAC. "Without our customers, we would not be in business."1

The center has installed a variety of energy-efficient EverLast® induction fixtures, including 250w U.S. High Bays and 100w bi-level street, parking and area lights in their 2,700 sq. ft. facility in Calera, Alabama. EverLast® bi-level fixtures are installed to show customers how additional cost savings and security is achieved by step-dimming fixtures to 40 percent power when an area is vacant and powering back up to 100 percent when triggered by motion.

"The business model at the TAC is simple; educate their customers on energy efficient products that can save money and help them stay competitive in a global market," stated Brandon Marken, Director of Commercial Sales at EverLast® Induction Lighting. "EverLast induction products fit that model. Alabama Power is a technology and brand neutral organization that evaluated other companies before being introduced to EverLast. At the end of the day they needed a trustworthy company with reliable products."

Induction technology is essentially a fluorescent lamp without electrodes. In this advanced technology the lamp relies on a magnetic induction to ignite the phosphors rather than electrodes, which are the components that burn out in a typical fluorescent lamp resulting in frequent replacement. EverLast® induction lamps use 50-70 percent less energy than traditional HPS and HID lamps and can last up to 100,000 hours, making them virtually maintenance-free.

By working directly with TAC and other world renowned research partners and testing facilities, including the California Lighting Technology Center at UC Davis, the Enhanced Spectrum Lab at the University of Michigan, and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), EverLast® Induction Lighting brings the most innovative lighting solutions to the market. Notable EverLast® Induction Lighting clients include: NASA, Harley Davidson, Planet Fitness, Holiday Inn Express, University of California campuses, Yuengling Brewery, and the University of Michigan.

EverLast® Induction Lighting is a subsidiary of Full Spectrum Solutions, Inc. and has quickly grown into the leading manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting solutions for roadway, parking structure, facility and area lighting applications.
