What are the benefits of Induction technology compared to LEDs?
January 9th, 2014 - Induction light fixtures offer a virtually maintenance free 100,000 hour lamp life with a 2-4 year return on investment, making induction technology an extremely energy-efficient and cost-effective lighting solution. Federal, state, and local tax incentives are currently being offered to offset the cost of implementing energy-efficient lighting.
As induction lighting solutions boast 100,000 hour lamp life versus the 50,000 lamp life of an LED, induction technology also offers considerably lower luminaire prices making induction the superior choice for most high illuminance lighting applications. Induction luminaires can also be easily re-lamped while many LED fixtures do not have easily replaceable modules.
As induction technology also has much better lumen maintenance over the lifetime of the fixture; induction lighting solutions do not have the harsh glare of directional LED light sources because of their spherical light source and visually comfortable color rendering typically ranging between 2700 to 6000K lamps. White light LEDs are in the objectionable higher range emitting excessive blue light.
In addition, LED fixtures do not have the capability to reduce glare unless they have an optic solution or a diffuser and even if an LED fixture did, the diffuser would decrease the efficiency of the fixture.
Induction lighting fixtures are also available with a dimmable option, providing even more energy savings while areas are vacant providing maximum energy savings over the life of the fixture. Induction technology boasts lowest total cost of ownership over LED, T8, HPS, and HID lighting solutions, and in some cases, offering nearly 70% more delivered lumens than competing technologies resulting in greater savings, and 50% lower glare than LEDs.
